In January 2024, we began the process of looking into purchasing two llamas to join our farm. After communicating with many breeders, we were pleased that two female llamas joined our herd in early September 2024. After seeing such a positive reaction from our alpacas towards the llamas and we ourselves enjoying their presence we decided we would look into acquiring more.
In April 2025, another 3 llamas (one male and two females) joined the herd. This was the beginning of our llama breeding program and we hope to start breeding late 2026/2027.
Thank you to Kate from Colina Verde Llamas and Mel from Painted Pines Llamas for allowing these four beautiful girls and one handsome male to join our herd.
We are registered members of the Llama Association of Australasia.
Llamas are a domesticated species originating from South America and are from the camelid family. There are five camelids breeds: Alpacas, Camels, Llamas, Vicuñas and Guanacos.
"The llama is an athletic animal, tall and sturdily built with an appearance of strength and nobility. It’s movements should be fluid and graceful, with both head and tail carried high. It’s disposition is calm and it’s nature curious.
It is a symetrical, well balanced animal with neck length being proportionate to both back and leg length. Generally, a llama reaches maturity at about three years of age. It should be capable of carrying a load over long distances and when true to type, will exhibit the characteristics listed in this standard."
